Title: Machining Process Engineer

Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Company has an immediate opening for a Machining Specialist to improve the efficiency of machining operations by studying, applying generally accepted engineering methods and reporting on findings regarding machining and subsequent production operations. Incumbent will also document all findings and develop systems to track and record process changes and manage the testing and critical evaluation of all products for engineering changes.
Position Responsibilities
- Develops, evaluates, and improves machining and subsequent operations manufacturing methods.
- Manages the planning, scheduling, testing and analyses on samples of completed parts. Provides functional analysis in planning workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Provides strategic guidance for the planning with design staff concerning product design to ensure efficient production methods.
- Coordinates with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for senior management decisions.
- Confers with other functional management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Requirements
- A minimum of a BS degree is required, preferably in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of related experience with machining processes, equipment, and materials.
- Experience working with Swiss-style lathe machines.
- Must have experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment.
- Excellent computer skills using MS Office Suite and other software programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and have excellent organizational skills.
Desired
- Any type of experience machining high precision turned parts such as design, manufacturing etc.
- Experience with PLC programming, preferably with Fanuc controllers SAP experience.
- German language skills are a nice to have.
