Heavy Civil Estimator needed to work on some of the most unique, challenging, and complex projects in the Northeast.

Job Summary

  • Plan, coordinate, and prepare cost estimates for heavy civil/industrial
  • construction projects primarily for water/wastewater treatment projects.
  • Plan and coordinate both hard bid estimates and conceptual estimates in a design/build environment.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.

Specific Requirements/Qualifications/Skills 

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, (10 years preferred) in estimating site work for heavy civil construction projects with a focus on water/wastewater treatment facilities and other industrial facilities. Experience in both hard bid estimating, as well as design/build and conceptual estimating is a requirement.
  • Experience in estimating the costs for constructing concrete foundations for heavy civil construction projects will be considered preferentially.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently estimate construction costs of site preparation, earthwork, excavation and backfill for foundations, site utility and yard process piping, site improvements and all other site work associated with heavy civil construction projects.
  • Capability to analyze and cost estimate project conditions to determine the most effective methods of earth support, including sheeting, piles and lagging, tiebacks, etc.  The candidate shall also be able to analyze and cost estimate project conditions to determine the most effective methods for dewatering, including open sumps, deep wells, well points, etc.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, construction management or other related field or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Exceptional communicate skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced team environment and committed to working as a team is critical.
  • Excellent problem solving skills are essential in order to develop creative solutions to construction challenges routinely encountered in the prosecution of heavy civil/industrial projects.
