Position reports to the Director of Nursing

24/7 responsibility for LDRP, Acute Care Services (Gynecology, ENT, Urology, Robotic-assisted minimally invasive urology, gynecology and general surgeries, pediatrics and same day surgery patients needing 24-hour care are also provided care within the department as well as postpartum care for stable Mom/baby couplets.  Gynecological services are provided for adult and geriatric women with acute gynecology surgical or medical needs.  Patients are admitted through Emergency Department, by direct physician admission or the Post Anesthesia Care Unit following surgery.  Areas of responsibility include neonatal nurse practitioners and OB laborist.

  • Shared governance, evidence based practice.
  • Management of staff.

Projects:

  • Budget.
  • Patient Satisfaction - Rounding with staff and leadership, employee engagement, weekly evaluation of patient scores and development of action plans for opportunity areas.
  • SCIP – Surgical Care Improvement Project.
  • Developing NNP Program.
  • On-boarding Pediatric ARNP.
  • Reduction of c-sections prior to 29 weeks.

Background/Experience and Skills Needed for Success:

  • MSN preferred – will consider BSN very close to completing masters (MSN, MBA or MHA).
  • Must have 3+ years clinical experience in Labor/Delivery and Maternal Child (knowledge of acute care and pediatrics is helpful).
  • Must have 3+ years previous management experience.
  • Positive outcomes with patient satisfaction.
  • Able to participate in community and hospital events with latitude to move schedule around.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship based skills, ability to lead and manage through influence and change, problem solver, works well independently, able to work collaboratively.
  • Experience in Labor/Management (Union) partnership environment and to achieve results.
  • Proficient with computer.
  • Take call with larger team.
